NEWTON — In 2011, Jennifer Domaracki, Owner of DahlHouse Design, lost her beloved father, Kenneth Dahl, abruptly to cancer. After his death, it motivated her to grow her business in a way that would honor her father.

“I have years of beautiful memories with my Dad,” states Domaracki. She continues, “His death was such a devastating loss to me and anyone who knew him.”

Kenneth Dahl was an encouraging father who lived his life embracing and supporting his family and friends. He reminded his daughter that ‘life is not a dress rehearsal’ and to always give it her all.

As a tribute to her father, Domaracki started DahlHouse Design. Her business offers custom invitations, event design and business branding featuring her hand-lettering illustrations and graphic designs. She has worked with UNICEF, The Foundation of Health in Aging and George Soros as well as The Finishing Touch Events where her work was featured in Inside Weddings, (201)Bride and New Jersey Bride.

"The best way for me to deal with the loss of my father was to honor him by building my business using my family name,” says Domaracki. “My dad always encouraged my creativity, and I know he would be proud that I am creating a business that I love.”

She continues to pay tribute to her father by incorporating his beloved granddaughters, Ellia, 7 and Katie, 5 into her business. After each client order is complete, her daughters enclose a handwritten thank you note complete with their own creative designs.

"My dad would be very proud that I am allowing my daughters’ creativity to shine. He was my biggest cheerleader,” states Domaracki. She continues, “Everything my dad ever did for me was out of love and that's how I want my daughters to remember him.”
