We move forward with my predictions for 2016 …
Let’s start with something that I have knowledge in, to gain your trust. Then, I’ll hit you with some random nonsense.
If you read last week’s blog, then you know that Pantone has released a duo of “colors of the year” for 2016. It is obvious that you will see this combo pop up in fashion and print this coming year.
What might not be so obvious is my prediction — a gradation of “Rose Quartz” to “Serenity” hair color.
Why not!? We saw soccer Moms, Disney characters and Kelly Ripa with hair dyed in every color of the rainbow last year. I see a marriage between the hombre hair of the past and 2015’s color trend.
As of April 1 of this past year, nearly two-thirds of American adults own smartphones. Pocket-sized computers that can answer all of our questions, alert us of our appointments and tell us how to get where we are going.
It’s not just a slogan. There really are apps for everything!
Is it absolutely necessary for people to get to you at any given moment? Really?
We are starting to look more and more like the Axiom people in “Wall-E!”
Have you read the story about the LA restaurant offering a 5% discount for parties that refrain from using their cell phones while visiting? Us smartphone users thought it was a great idea! It’s almost like we want incentive to put the damn things down because we don’t know how to do it ourselves!
I spend countless hours in front of a screen. Working from a home office makes it very difficult to “turn off.” I have been making a conscious effort to adopt a “Cell Free Saturday” rule.
Why do you need me on Saturday? I’m with my family. … And you should be, too!
I am going to push this “Cell Free Saturday” on social media and call it one of my predictions for 2016.
Let’s hope! I think we need it.
I don’t watch much television beyond DIY and HGTV. However, I did get hooked on the recently introduced series, Quantico — mainly because I am mesmerized by the lead actress, Priyanka Chopra.
She. Is. Gorgeous.
Priyanka is no stranger to fame in her home country of India. While I am unsure of the fate of this particular show, I do expect to see more of Priyanka in the U.S. spotlight.
Count on it!
I am going to keep it simple here — In 2016, panel talk shows will die. Please, die.
I actually like The Chew, but all of the other “The”s can go … The View, The Talk, The Real, The FABLife.
Can we get a little more creative with show concepts and titles? Please and thank you.
I am personally a fan of music past. I have not been impressed with many of the newer music artists. My prediction is that some of the great ones will spring from retirement (possibly seeking money, but whatever — their artistry is welcomed.)
Who you say? Hmm, well, those alive and well within groups, such as Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Tribe Called Quest*, Pearl Jam, Public Enemy …
That’s all I got! Did you think that I was going to predict politics!? Oh heck no! We have ten more months of that craziness. You will not see me pushing my political opinion or bashing another’s on social media. No post is as loud as a vote … and trust, mine will be heard!
As we wind down the year, relax and enjoy this time with friends and family. Have a happy and healthy year to come. Thank you for your support.
Here’s to making it to blog #33! Cheers!
*Updated: I am beyond sad with the passing of Malik Izzak Taylor (aka Phife) of Tribe Called Quest on March 22, 2016. Thank you for the music!
